The short version: Lighten has no server and no account. Every debt, payment, and setting you enter is stored only in a local database on your own device. This page explains that in full, plus the two narrow exceptions — in‑app purchases and, if ever enabled, advertising.
Lighten does not ask you to sign up, sign in, or create a profile. There is no backend server for the app to send your information to, because Lighten was built not to need one.
Every debt you add — its balance, interest rate, minimum payment, due date, notes — along with your payment history and app settings, is written to a local database that lives only on your device. Nothing is uploaded, synced, or backed up to us. We have no way to see it, and no way to recover it for you if your device is lost, reset, or if you uninstall the app.
Lighten offers one optional, one-time purchase — Lighten Pro — to unlock additional features. The purchase itself is handled entirely by the Apple App Store; we never see your name, email, or payment details, which Apple processes directly.
Third party: RevenueCat
To verify your purchase and let you restore it on a new device, Lighten uses RevenueCat, a subscription-management service. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app-user identifier and your App Store transaction information — never your payment details. Read RevenueCat's own policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.
If you turn on payment reminders, they're scheduled and delivered entirely by your device's own operating system. No reminder content, due dates, or debt names are sent anywhere to make this work.
Lighten does not currently show any ads. The app is built with the technical capability to show ads in a future update; if that's ever turned on, you will be asked for tracking permission first, and this policy will be updated to name the ad partner and what it collects before that happens.
Lighten is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this same page with a new "Last updated" date above.
